As we all are living in an unparallel crisis situation due to COVID-19 and trying our best to keep the normal flow of life. Education is a process that cannot be stopped. If one way is closed another will open. In this extremity we all need to obey Govt. orders and stay home. Hence by following the motto of JIS group #Ghar se Parhai Corona se Larai, the department of ECE is continuing the process of knowledge sharing through Digital learning platforms like myPerfectice , Google Classroom, Gto meeting etc. webinars, online workshops through virtual lab , GATE preparatory classes, digital poster making competitions and many other events are organised online along with online regular classes. The ECE newsletter , INSIGHT is also published online this time covering all the events that were held during this Lockdown and it will be distributed to spread empathy

Message from Principal
Life has continued for us, even after the lockdown. GNIT has not witnessed any cessation of academic activities in this phase COVID-19 pandemic situation. I feel extremely happy that the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) is going to publish this Special Edition Newsletter INSIGHT containing conduction of Online classes and all sorts of digital activities they sportingly and enthusiastically did during the ongoing Lockdown period to keep all their Students busy and restricted to Stay at Home for which the Parents/Guardians of the Students also got relaxed that their wards are busy with studies and many other activities on digital Platform. Apart from conduction of digital classes and virtual Labs, they also did a good no. of Webinars, Parent Teacher Meet, Alumni Interaction, Blended Learning and the most interesting Digital Cultural programme. This Special Edition Lockdown News Letter is a reflection of the positive vibes of the ECE dept.
I wish that this Newsletter should be distributed to the mass to spread positive vibes all across to focus on the phrase “Education Cannot Stop”.

Below are some glimpses of the Online Classes :
Digital Parent Teacher Meet
The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Guru Nanak Institute of Technology organized a Digital Parent-Teacher Meeting for the B. Tech (2nd, 3rd and 4th Year) and Diploma (2nd and 3rd Year) students on 16th August, 2020, from 7.30 pm to 10 pm using the whiteboard in myPerfectice platform.
All the parents expressed their happiness towards the initiatives taken by the JIS Management Team, Prof. (Dr.) Santanu Kumar Sen, Principal and the Faculty Members & Technical Assistants of ECE Department for facilitating Digital education to the students during the Lockdown Period. The parents are also expressed their satisfaction as their wards are involved in regular academic engagement, Internship, Innovative Projects and Social Responsibility.
Online Alumni Interaction
The department organised an online Alumni Interaction session on 29.11.2020 as a part of 1st year SIP on digital Platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic scenario. The event was organised for the students of Electronics & Communication Engg and Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
Industry Mentor Meet
The department organised an Industry mentor meet for the students on 29.11.2020 . It was our privilege to have two renowned industry experts as mentors - Mr. Rajmohan Dey Sarkar , Director Technology Services, Ardent Computech Pvt. Ltd and Mr. Pranab Sinha Chaoudhury, Ex Dy General Manager(Maint.), W.B.P.D.C.L, A Govt. of West Bengal Enterprise. The program ended with an interactive session with the students.
Online Test
The department conducted internal assessment tests for all the subjects. Different Digital Learning Platforms like myPerfectice Whiteboard or google form is used for the tests and evaluation. Some snapshots are given below.
The department also organized Mock tests on all the subjects to make the students familiar with the proctor-based examination system
The department also organized Online Practice Test on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as a part of Online Admission Drive Awareness Program

WEBINAR/SEMINAR/CONFERENCE/WORKSHOP ORGANISED
Electronics & Communication Engineering in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers (India) and Admission Cell @ GNIT has organized Sambhav 2020 for school students of standard 10 to 12 on 24th July, 2020. The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Avali Banerjee, Ms. Palasri Dhar, Ms. Antara Ghoshal.
Dhrubajyoti Ganguly stood first in the logo competition. This logo is selected for departmental e-magazine logo.

Ms. Palasri Dhar received the JIS SAMMAN Award 2021 in the category of faculty with highest no of students publication in the department
Dr. Sunipa Roy, HOD , ECE received the prestigious JIS SAMMAN AWARD 2021 in two categories –
1. faculty with highest amount of grant received
2. faculty with best research credentials
Dr. Suparna Biswas received the JIS SAMMAN Award 2021 in the category of Best video lecture in the department
Ms. Sulata Pandit received the JIS SAMMAN Award 2021 in the category of best practical demonstration video in the department
Ms. Aparajita Bhagat , Mr. Arijeet Saha , Mr. Agniva Dutta and Mr.Pritam Das won the prestigious JIS SAMMAN 2021 award in the category of best student project 2017
HACKATHON / COVID MOVEMENT PARTICIPATION BY STUDENTS
Sayan Mondal, Sayan Majumder, Uddipan Chowdhury, Sayan Bhattacharya participated in MHRD Samadhan 2020. The topic is “Thermal Scanning & GPS Tracking System”.
Ms. Anurima Majumdar, Asst. Prof , ECE , GNIT and Sayan Mondal, student , ECE , GNIT participated in IEEE India COVID MOVE Online Hackathon Challenge - Edition 1. They have also participated in Edition 2 of the program.
